Overview
While working as a Marketing Assistant at Habitat for Humanity ReStore, I managed and created content across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn to support both in-store sales and a growing online shop. During COVID-19 lockdowns, the store relied heavily on digital platforms to showcase inventory and communicate with customers.
The Challenge
The ReStore operated in a fast-moving retail environment where inventory changed daily, requiring quick-turnaround content that remained visually consistent with Habitat’s established brand. Additionally, the shift to online sales meant adapting physical retail experiences into engaging digital content.
Audience
Local community members, bargain shoppers, and environmentally conscious consumers interested in affordable secondhand furniture and home goods.
Creative Approach
I developed simple, eye-catching graphics using Habitat’s signature colour palette, focusing on clarity and speed. Posts were designed to highlight individual items, promote store events, and encourage immediate engagement through comments and direct messages.
Managed social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
Created graphics and promotional posts
Photographed and listed products for the online shop
Promoted featured items through Instagram posts and short-form video
Contributed visual assets for email marketing campaigns
Handled customer communication via comments and direct messages
Responsibilities
Solution
By combining quick production workflows with consistent branding, I was able to maintain an active and engaging social presence that supported both online and in-store sales. Content was optimized for immediacy, helping items sell quickly in a constantly changing inventory environment.
Reflection
This role strengthened my ability to design under tight time constraints, adapt to evolving priorities, and balance creative work with hands-on retail responsibilities. It also gave me experience translating physical products into compelling digital content.
